Glacier Reflections
Taken from the bow of the Alexei Maryshev the picture shows the right-hand end of the Hornbreen Glacier.
Located in the Arctic Ocean north of mainland Europe, about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole, Svalbard consists of a group of islands ranging from 74° to 81° North.
The archipelago is the northernmost part of Norway. Three islands are populated: Spitsbergen, Bear Island and Hopen. The largest settlement is Longyearbyen with a population of about 1,300.
The Islands are an ideal place to see Polar Bear, Walrus and Whales during the summer months when you can enjoy them all round the clock with 24 hour daylight.
