Baikal Sunset

A hidden gem in deepest Siberia, Lake Baikal contains more water than all of the North American Great Lakes combined.
At 1,637 meters (5,370 ft), Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and the largest freshwater lake in the world by volume and is frozen to c. 1 m thick for 6 months of the year.
Baikal is home to more than 1,700 species of plants and animals, two thirds of which can be found nowhere else in the world. At more than 25 million years old it is the oldest lake in the world.
Local legends say that by dipping your hand or foot into Lake Baikal you will add 5 years to your life, if you get in up to your knees you will add 10 years to your life and if you can brave a swim you will add 25 years!
I can definitely recommend a swim but at 3 degrees above freezing not a long one!!
